Customer Review: California Camping Book
I love this camping guide! I have purchased several (4+) editions of this book to have the most up-to-date info available. I refer to it often and highly recommend it to all campers as a great resource guide.

RVs are large investments and some may sit for several weeks or months during the winter. This means that it is exposed to elements such as wind, dust, dirt, snow, rain, bird droppings and even tree sap. The sun's ultraviolet rays are also damaging to your RV's paint, leather, fabrics and vinyl. An RV cover can help protect every inch of your investment and the cost is well worth it.

Unless you are lucky enough to have a permanent garage or storage for your RV, chances are you don't have a very well protected spot for your RV. The least expensive protection for your RV is a cover. There are a variety of different cover designs and materials that are available. It is important to find a cover that is strong and durable, but you also want it easy to be handled. A cover does you no good if you can't get it off an on the RV. If it is hard to handle, you may neglect your RV simply because you don't want to hassle with the cover.

Custom-fit covers may provide better protection than those that are universal or "one size fits all." These covers do not move around in the wind as much and will last longer. When you order a custom fit cover, you will want to include any provisions for things such as roof mounted air conditions, spare tires and other accessories that may be on the outside of your RV. Covers will usually have openings for doors and spaces for these accessories. Door openings are convenient because they allow you access to the RV without having to remove the whole cover.

They type of fabric your cover is made from is an important decision as well. You should compare RV cover fabrics to each other by looking at their weight per foot. High quality covers are also breathable and allow moisture to escape. If they do not breathe well, moisture may cause corrosion on the RV and promote rust because it is trapped against the RV. This does little to protect your investment. A breathable cover will also help reduce the formation of mildew and mold and they allow heat to escape to keep the interior cool. A high-quality cover will also be water resistant and provide protection against UV radiation.

When your purchasing your RV covers, don't forget the tires. Tires are also destroyed by UV rays and can be damaged over the winter months by precipitation and the sun. There are covers available for tires as well. Seems on tire covers should overlap and have double stitching for strength. They should also have grommets on each side so that they look neat and won't be lost with the wind. By covering both the RV and tires, you will be able to save yourself money in the long run and you will have peace of mind as well.
